It's Saturday, November 11th 2006 and ParksBarbershop.com is going live!
This website/weblog is an experiment to see how the real world community surrounding the business of a barbershop can be integrated into the digital social dynamics of the internet.
This is not going to be your regular website, so please be sure to check back often, because ParksBarbershop.com will update and change frequently.
We hope to publish some of the real life stories heard directly from our chairs throughout the day, accompanied by pictures and maybe even a little video to show you some of the fun interesting stuff that happens around the shop.
If you are a customer and you have any ideas for what you would like to see on ParksBarbershop.com, please do feel free to chime-in by posting a comment below or sending us an e-mail.
Oh and by the way - I'm Jason's brother Jamie Parks. I've been promising to build Jason and Brenda a website for their shop for way too long and I'm happy to finally launch the beta version today.
In the very near future I will be handing the reigns of this website over to Jason and Brenda to start publishing to (and hopefully Frank and Michelle will ring in from time to time =)
Like most non-geek people, the thought of actually publishing a website that is "alive" and "meaningful" may seem at first to be a tremendous amount of work and commitment. But I am more than confidant that after spending a few days with Jason and Brenda, showing them the necessary tricks around the web and how to get things done by forming 'creative' habits, I'll be able to quickly get both of them ramped up to pace with how to create and publish a quality website that really does make a difference in their customers lives.
I believe that the internet is drastically transforming all of our lives in more ways than most people are aware of and I hope that this blog in some small way can reach out to the Montgomery, Magnolia, Woodlands, and Tomball communities to better unite the people by starting a really good conversation that will never end.
